Hi, I’m JT—a husband, father, fishing enthusiast, and passionate mentor. For more than 20 years, I served as a Behavior Specialist with Durham Public Schools, where I dedicated my career to helping young people build confidence, character, and life skills.

During my time in education, I founded the SONS Program, a mentoring initiative designed to support students from all backgrounds by fostering self-esteem, goal-setting, leadership, and personal growth. The program’s positive impact on youth throughout the community earned the prestigious Lamplighter Award in 2013.

Today, I continue that mission through fishing. My goal is to create meaningful outdoor experiences that bring people together, teach valuable skills, and provide a refreshing escape from the demands of everyday life. Whether it’s a child’s first catch or an adult reconnecting with nature, each trip is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.

Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing the excitement, confidence, and enthusiasm on participants’ faces after a successful day on the water. Fishing is more than a hobby—it’s a pathway to connection, personal growth, and lifelong experiences

Hi, I’m proud to serve as the Vice President of Operations for our organization. As a husband, father of three, deacon at White Oak Baptist Church, and retail store general manager, I understand the importance of leadership, service, and building meaningful relationships.
Helping others has always been at the heart of everything I do. Whether at work, in my church, or through our fishing programs, I am passionate about creating opportunities that positively impact people’s lives.
When I’m not working, you can often find me enjoying a good laugh, watching a great movie, or spending time on the water. Fishing has long been my source of peace, reflection, and renewal—a place where life’s stresses seem to fade away. I am excited to help others discover that same sense of serenity while creating memorable experiences and lasting connections through the outdoors.
My hope is that every person we serve leaves with not only new fishing skills, but also a renewed sense of joy, relaxation, and appreciation for the simple things in life.

Hi, I’m Sue. I’m proud to be JT’s wife, the mother of three amazing children, a pediatrician by profession, and a weekend fisherwoman whenever I can find time to get on the water.
As Treasurer for Casting Your Cares Fishing, I oversee the organization’s bookkeeping and financial records, helping ensure we can continue creating meaningful experiences for those we serve. While much of my role happens behind the scenes, I am passionate about supporting a mission that brings people together through the joy, peace, and healing that fishing can provide.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smiles, excitement, and memories created on each outing. My hope and prayer is that many more individuals and families will have the opportunity to experience the relaxation, connection, and happiness that come from spending time on the water.
